Join me and Vicki Ravlich-Horan, the fabulous editor of Waikato foodie mag Nourish, for a right royal King's Birthday Holiday feast at Sweetgum Cottage & Garden, 2495 Hunua Road (15 minutes from the Bombay offramp at SH1).

We'll be eating our way through the award-winning pages of The Nourish Cookbook Volume 2, with Vicki offering cooking tips & clever entertaining ideas, and me providing harvest know-how from my vege patch... plus some special memories of meeting the Monarch during a private tour of his stunning garden at Highgrove.

The Nourish Cookbook Volume 2 retails for $59 and as well as enjoying a jolly good time on the day, everyone gets a signed copy to take home. This brilliant (and practical) 292-page cookbook boasts family-friendly recipes for everything from breakfast and brunches to salads, vegetables, meatless Mondays, hearty dinners and delicious baking.

What else is on the menu? Over a welcoming round of botanical cocktails and mocktails, Vicki will teach you how to make your own seedy crackers and nutty dukkah, while I'll reveal how to have homegrown new potatoes right through winter (then we'll eat them with a zesty olive and caper dressing).

We'll chat through the seasonal veges you can grow and then serve up the likes of carrot couscous, roasted cauli and maple-roasted pumpkin with slow-cooked beef cheeks and a homegrown herby gremolata (as made famous at The Shack in Raglan).

And for dessert? We'll finish with Vicki's all-time favourite chocolate mousse served with edible flowers and bottled fruit from my pantry.

Plus of course you can wander around my winter garden and have a good old-fashioned nosey inside my century-old restored colonial cottage.
